Diesel Clothing History Of A Clothing Giant

Diesel clothing is some of the hottest ticket clothing on the planet. Diesel clothing is aimed at the youth market, and though they are most famous for their jeans, they also make everything from perfume to watches to jackets. The company that makes Diesel Clothing is an Italian design company, and is owned by the company founder Renzo Rosso.

Diesel clothing got its start in 1978 when Rosso and his former boss Adriano Goldschmied of the AG Jeans Company opened it up. In 1985, Renzo took complete acquisition of Diesel clothing and in 1988, the current Creative Design Director Wilbert Das was hired. In 1996, Diesel clothing opened its first flagship store in New York City. In February of 2007, Diesel clothing launched a major intimates and beachwear division for men and women. Diesel Black Gold was announced in November of 2007, which is a luxury line of clothing.

Diesel clothing has more than 3,000 employees across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. There are 5000 retail outlets, and 300 are Diesel brand stores. 200 of those stores are owned by Diesel clothing, and the rest are franchised out. Most of the sales revenue from Diesel clothing are from its denim jeans.

Most of Diesel clothings current production is outsourced to other smaller companies. The production of Diesel denim is still based mainly in Italy. All Diesel clothing is made under the creative direction of design of Wilbert Das. Diesel clothing also has a childrens collection, called Diesel Kid. Diesel clothing also has collections of footwear, bags and handbags, and intimate apparel. They have lines of eyewear, watches, and jewelry and perfume. LOreal and Diesel launched Fuel for Life in the fall of 2007. Also a mini collection for Adidas was launched in 2008 called Adidas Originals Denim by Diesel. Another interesting fact about the Diesel clothing line is that the undergarment license is held by the United States company Mast Industries, Inc., who makes lingerie for Victoria Secret.

A Brief History Of Money Clothing

Money clothing was established in 2003 by Melvyn de Villiers and Nick Cordell, joined the following year by Takashi Maru Marujo. The three designers wanted to shake up the way fashion was created they wanted to create a range of urban streetwear that they were proud to wear, not just because of the label, but also because of the product itself.

Money garments, not only brilliantly designed each item taking traits, flair and quirks from the designers but were also created using the very best materials and textiles. The level of detail is almost unrivalled, and the three designers were obviously obsessed with quality.

The Money brands is closely associated with two glaring characteristics: firstly, the King Ape Device which is prominently displayed upon all of the products; and, secondly, the Dollar Jeans. These jeans featured a genuine United States Dollar bill (in denominations of $1 to $100 each) attached to the back of the jeans, just slightly above the right-hand side pocket, clearly showing the main detail but also leaving a little to the imagination.

It was these characteristics that really gave Money a big boost during their appearances at fashion shows, including Magic held at Las Vegas, Nevada. Italy in particular was captivated by the brand, and Money was soon able to work with the leading Italian clothing manufacturers to ensure that the clothes produced were the absolute highest possible quality. This quality, matched with impeccable design, meant that it was not long before the brand was seen in good light by the Italian celebrities, such as footballers Alberto Gilardino and Luca Toni. The popularity soon spread throughout Italys Young and Trendy, with over 150 premium accounts being opened within Money within weeks. Money is still one of Italys firm favourite brands, Money often jokingly refer to Italy as being the land of Milk and Money.

Money hit the celebrity jackpot when A-List Brits David and Victoria Beckham were seen wearing the brand with pride in 2006. The LA Galaxy soccer player and ex-Spice Girl have long been seen as style icons for both males and females all across the world, and being picked up by them catapulted Money in to the position they are in now.

The three designers were naturally ecstatic with the success of the brand and wanted to see it go further. They expanded their offerings, keeping the styles they were famous and loved for, but also complementing with newer, cleaner designs made with special, unique materials and fabrics. The designers, especially Takashi Maru Marujo, spoke with their contacts and arranged for their demin jeans to be produced in Japan. These Japanese manufactured jeans are made using Kojima selvedge woven on vintage looms. Their sweaters received a similarly themed manufacturing makeover, with all sweats now being made from French Terry in Wakayama.

In just 6 years of being on the market, Money have achieved what they may have considered to be impossible in 2003. They are known and loved all over the World, not just by the Young and Trendy, but also by an impressive array of celebrities. As well as the Beckhams and the Italian footballers, Money has been seen on the backs of Chris Brown, Ashley Cole, Amir Kahn, Leo Gregory, Jay-Z and Jay Simpsons.

Clothing Culture During The Renaissance

A lot of information has been published about the medieval period, from the lifestyle of people, to their clothing. What has become apparent is that clothes played a very important role in the medieval lifestyle; this role can somewhat be described as the expression of status as people level in society was clearly visible in the type of clothing they wore. This was largely a matter of legislations which set the options when it came to the type of clothing that people wore. Medieval society was largely categorized through quality, color and cut of clothing.

Antiquity Clothing

In such a pyramidal society where the elite are few and the common masses many, most of the population dressed simply and unremarkably. The masses wore home-made clothes, which were very simply cut and from cloth made in their villages. The most common material from which medieval wardrobes were made of was undyed wool and leather or fur obtained from hunting animals. Since sumptuary laws that had existed since Roman times restricted expenditures on clothing and food according to social rank, the peasantry wore mostly unadorned clothing.

The elite and the rich, however, had free reign over the degree of luxury they desired in their clothing. They imported silk and cotton and could meet the expense of bleached linen and dyed and simply patterned wool. Royalty and nobility wrapped themselves in richly embroidered fabrics, and extended their ostentatiousness through jewelry, buckles, purses, weapon fittings, and metalwork accessories. Medieval dresses of highborn women were hemmed with colorful borders and fine needlework.

In style and elaborate

It was not long before elaborate became en vogue. Slashing emerged from Germany, a style of Renaissance clothing for sale at the time that revealed a different texture or color of clothing beneath the outer fabric. Perhaps the undying chicness of black became established during the Renaissance, when polite society began to wear it to formal events.

The mere ruffle at the neckline bloomed into the cartwheel-shaped ruff that marked Elizabethan fashion and into very grandiose designs made of Italian linen lace and wire-supported. As well, exquisite needle, lace with scrolling designs flowered from Italy and spread to the continent. The grandiosity in clothing peaked with the stylish Tudors’ clothes, which embraced rich, heavy brocades and gold-shot fabrics encrusted with jewels.
Renaissance Costumes

When the golden era set in, wool was still the most popular fabric, next of which were linen and hemp. By now wool was available in a variety of qualities, from rough undyed cloth to fine, dense, and velvety broadcloth. During the Renaissance, costumes made of wool could be dyed in rich colors, most commonly reds, blues, greens, and golds.

With the dawn that announced this idyllic time came silk-weaving. Figured silks like silk velvets with silver-gilt wefts were most often seen on the well-heeled Italians, gradually catching fire with the rest of wealthy Europe. The refined flamboyance of China eventually reached the Ottoman civilization in the form of stately floral designs in pomegranate or artichoke motifs. Through the Ottomans, the Western world embraced the trend.
